Mindfulness & Clarity

A New Year evoke the feeling of new beginnings and fresh start. In January, we are full of energy and desire to tackle our resolutions and achieve our goals for the year.

Mindfulness is the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something, to pay more careful attention in a particular way. Having a clear vision of your goals will help you do things in a more mindful way; whether you resolve to exercise more, eat healthier, go after a promotion at work, or start your own business; your ability to clarify and plan your goals will allow you to achieve them. Begin with small changes on a daily basis that will help you reach a significative transformation when you look back at the end of the year.

Tips to be more mindful about your goals and how you plan to achive them:

1. Self-Exploration- assess your life. Take into consideration your why and your purpose and make a list of your goals for the year. Once you have written your goals review them often. You can carry a copy of the list on your purse or make a Vision Board and hang it on the wall of your room or office. Doing this will help you stay focused on what you want.

2. Time Mapping- make a visual diagram of your daily, weekly and monthly schedule, using a planner. Subdivide your schedule into "zones" or life categories with all the tasks on your to-do list. Some examples of life categories are; self, family, work, finances, relationships and community. All your activities should support your goals in these categories. This is a powerful tool that will help you be proactive.

3. Monitoring- In order to stay on track, you need to review your planner at least twice a day, in the morning and again at the end of the day. Make an evening clean up reviewing your to-do list. Tasks that you didn't do but still need to do, should be move to the next day. Is useful to tune up your schedule system quarterly to make sure it reflects your current goals, priorities and interests.
